Fair Isle-Inspired Sterling Silver Embroidered Leather Bracelet

Bring a little Scandinavian-inspired style to your wrist with this one-of-a-kind handmade sterling silver bracelet. Inspired by the patterned look of a classic Fair Isle sweater, this piece combines layered and textured sterling silver with hand-stitched silk embroidery for a unique mix of metalsmithing and textile design.

The sterling silver focal is fabricated by hand from layered sheet silver and features a raised border around the design. I pierced a pattern of openings throughout the silver and then hand-stitched through many of them with silk thread in a warm palette of coral, beige, and light grey. A few of the openings are intentionally left unstitched, giving the piece a relaxed, handmade quality and a slightly worn, well-loved feel.

The finished focal slides onto a rich camel-colored leather band with a rivet closure. Multiple adjustment holes allow the bracelet to fit a range of wrist sizes, from approximately 5" to 7.25". The leather is incredibly soft and comfortable to wear, and the focal can easily be removed and transferred to a different leather band if you want to change the color or replace the band over time.

How it’s made matters:
This bracelet was designed and fabricated by hand by Shannon Bundschuh of Carry a Torch. From the layered and pierced sterling silver to the hand-stitched silk embroidery, every part of the focal was thoughtfully made in my studio. The combination of silver, silk, and leather creates a piece that feels both modern and rooted in traditional Scandinavian textile design.

Care:
Because this bracelet incorporates natural leather and silk thread, a little extra care is needed. Oils, lotions, and perfume can discolor or affect these natural materials over time. Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the bracelet, and allow lotions and other products to fully absorb before wearing it.

The leather band can also be replaced in the future, making it possible to give the piece a new look or simply refresh the band as it naturally ages.
